Sitting of the PABSEC General Assembly will be held in Kyiv in Summer
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, who is heading the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) has
signed the respective documents.
The documents were signed during the meeting of V.M.Lytvyn with PABSEC Secretary General Alexey Kudriavtsev. The Parties discussed organization and holding of the 37th sitting of the PABSEC General Assembly on June 30 - July 2, 2011. The agenda includes reelection of the board of the International Secretariat of the organization, i.e. the Secretary General and three deputy Secretary Generals. The incumbent PABSEC Secretary General Alexey Kudriavtsev accomplishes his work in this office, and does not intend running for it again.
Apart from the organizational issues, the participants of the meeting are to discuss and settle the matters connected with the trade-economic cooperation between the Black Sea region states, their collaboration in the sphere of the environment, culture, education and public health.
V.Lytvyn commented on the strengthening of the role of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation as a permanent tool of inter-parliamentary dialogue and coordination of efforts of regional governments and parliaments. At the same time, he supposes that the Assembly as the parliamentary component of the BSEC has an enormous unused potential to efficiently support the governmental, non-governmental, business and academic initiatives of the Black Sea region states.
